Try a little discovery
Bring on the sunshine
A solar panel turns light into electricity, and the little motor turns that into motion. Slide the sunlight up and watch the wheels start turning.
Illustration of solar-powered motion, not a measure of real speed.
See the Solar Car STEM Kit (6-Pack) →Pick your bot
Motors, gears and wheels turn a battery’s energy into motion. Each bot uses it differently: crawling, rolling, drawing, or spinning a propeller (the propeller model stays on its wheels).
Simplified illustrations of example builds.
See the STEM Discovery Lab Robot Kit (5-in-1) →Start the swing
When one ball swings in, its energy passes through the middle balls and pushes out the ball at the other end. A little energy is lost each time, so the swing slowly settles.
Simplified illustration of motion transfer.
See the Circuits & Physics Experiment Kit (7 Experiments) →Complete the connection
Electricity needs a complete loop. With the switch open there’s a gap and nothing happens. Close it, and current can flow from the battery, through the bulb and back.
Simplified diagram, not a wiring guide. Follow your kit’s instructions.
See the Circuits & Physics Experiment Kit (7 Experiments) →Move the machine
In a hydraulic excavator, pushing liquid through a tube moves the arm around its joints. Gear models show how one turning wheel can drive others at different speeds.
Simplified illustration of how the parts move.
See the Wooden Engineering & Science Kit →Make a little wow
Science kits let kids watch reactions bubble, crystals grow and colors mix. This is just a quick taste of what that looks like.
Sped-up, decorative illustration, not experiment instructions. Follow your kit’s instructions and its adult-supervision guidance.

Questions from grown-ups
Do the kits need to be assembled?
Yes, building is part of the fun. Each kit comes with its own instructions. How long it takes depends on the kit and the builder.
Will my child need adult help?
Some steps can be fiddly, and science kits may need supervision. Check each product page and the kit’s packaging for age and supervision guidance.
Are batteries included? Do solar kits work indoors?
It depends on the kit, so check the product page and packaging. Solar-powered builds run on sunlight through their solar panel and usually work best in direct, bright sunlight.
Do science kits need anything extra from home?
Some experiments may call for household items or water. The kit’s instructions list what you need. We never assume anything extra is included.
What is the Discovery Lab on this page?
It’s a set of simplified, playful illustrations to show the kind of science each kit explores. It isn’t a simulation of real performance or a set of experiment instructions.
